Trombonicle 65 / taking the mic

open micIt’s been quite a while since the open mic circuit was explored and so off we went to Soho for Poems Not Bombs, an event not always as peaceful as the name suggests, but worth a visit, not least because it’s a rare afternoon option. The basement of  The Spice of Life is mostly known in these pages as an evening jazz venue.

The photo shows some kind of Esperanto heckle banner.

A lot more hilarity was to be had at Billie Jeyes’ monthly poetry open mic night at The Rocketvan Coffee Shop & Box Shop Bar in Walworth. Billie’s Instagram account has short videos of last month’s offerings.

This month, Harry Strutters comes out of hibernation and we have a special Leap Year knees-up in Hoxton, with undertones of Beckett.

A Bigger MOUTH now has a Farcebook Page, so do go and like it if you like it.

Next month brings a gig at The Forge with Snowboy and, of course, the new book, Kneptune.
