Another new venture: a joint performance of trombone poetry with The Blowpipes for Jazz At The Carriage House in Higham Ferrers. The Blowpipes unleashed new (old) ties and a much older joke about a bloke in a pub, plus repertoire from Kid Ory to Sun Ra. Punters clapped in time to solo jazz classics. Over-refreshed regulars contributed random livestock noises.
Canterbury beckoned again, after eighteen months, with a trombone poetry recital for the Sounds New Contemporary Music Festival, in the splendid Orange Street Music Club. The numerological festival theme of seven was variously hinted at, without for a moment playing in 7:4. Due to an administrative oversight, the appropriate number of drinks had not been stipulated.
