Another local outpouring – Rotherhithe Voices – took place at the blessèd Deli Felice last month. Here we have a picture of some trombonist trying to remember Schubert’s Der Lindenbaum, given the evening’s arboreal theme. Note the peeping heads.
The following Friday, down in Botley, a contagion, no, a contingent of Harry Strutters musicians, former and current, played at the wake for the much-missed Tony Carter. Swinging At The Cotton Club will never be the same.
The gigs stagger on, with the inevitable visits to the little chainstores of the unwanted. Here’s a recent find:
Tubby Hayes! Ronnie Ross!
In the coat pocket now, pursuing last month’s theme, is this import:
Here are Buñuel’s writings from the 1920s, in a new dual-language edition to lift us out of this glum winter.
We just need the Buñueloni martinis to go with it.
