Trombonicle 58 / flow

palatial facilitiesIt wasn’t exactly press-ganging, but there we were again at very short notice, this time with the great violinist Omar Puente, bobbing on the pontoon with a fresh cargo of Latin Jazz and the odd poem. There was the inevitable frenzied swarm of literary types clamouring for autographed copies of the book, many losing their footing and succumbing to the merciless turmoil of the River Lea. As ever, the St Austell’s Cornish Stout was a great replenisher and we moved on.

A Bigger MOUTH continued its wondrous monthly residency at the Hundred Years Gallery with even more inventiveness and the welcome support of a keen throng and St Peter’s Old Style Porter. The forthcoming album is delayed due to backlogs in vinyl pressing factories. We are considering shellac.

The John Bennett Band blew new life into historic originals at The Eleanor Arms. If you missed it, we’ll be back on November 26th. Let’s hope the Whitstable Bay Pale Ale will still be on tap.

Harry Strutters Hot Rhythm Orchestra played at a sun-scorched festival aptly surrounded by the crumbling relics of Bishop’s Waltham Palace. A bottle of water would have been nice.

Oh to be in England, and so forth.
