On a long train journey north, the other day, relishing the greening views from my thoughtfully reserved window seat, it occurred to me that I should share the odd poem here, so that people could see what might be in a book..
The new book, Marinets, is made entirely from tiny poems (plus Hilary Morton’s wonderful photographs) so a few of these could be easily stowed in a blog post.
The marinet is like a haiku but more compact: a 5-5-4 syllable form, and with maritime or aquatic themes or connotations.
There are hundreds of them in the book and we will be launching a few marinets down the Hogsmill River on Wednesday 26th (as mentioned last month). Sou’westers not required.
