The flow of chronicles has been glacial lately. Various excuses are shoved to the fore: a tour in February with the Yiddish Twist Orchestra, followed by an album recording; sundry adventures in icy Broadstairs with ruM; an outpouring of deranged proverbs on the twitter channel. Visit @trombonepoetry to ponder the perverb, sawn, mixim and addage.
There was a trombone poetry recital at the Elephant & Castle pub, Elephant & Castle. The poem Nick Knack led, as it usually does, to a spontaneous blues, but this time there was a gentle stage invasion, with a punter requesting a Louis Armstrong number, with singing. Satchmo impressions not being part of the plan, the request was blanked (the trombone still hooting) and the fan was escorted offstage.
There was also a brief contribution to Just Poets’ folk ‘n’ poetry night at The Baum, in Toad Lane, Rochdale. The fact that The Baum was CAMRA’s pub of the year for 2012 is not the only reason to aim for another visit.
